About the Law of Attraction

Just about everybody has now heard of or seen/read 'The Secret', which focuses on the Law of Attraction. Some people love it and say it works, some people hate it and say it doesn't work or there's no proof that it works. Who is right?

The famous quote from Henry Ford sums it up – “Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right.” There is no doubt that our thoughts and beliefs create our reality. I remember hearing the famous motivational speaker Tony Robbins speak once about interviewing people for one of his books. He interviewed two brothers who had grown up in an environment of drugs, alcohol and the parents continually in and out of prison. One brother ended up the same way, in the cycle of drugs, alcohol and prison. The other became a professional – a doctor or attorney I believe. He became very successful. When asked how and why they had ended up as they had, each brother had the same answer, which was something along the lines of “given my environment growing up, I had no choice.” So one brother thought he had no choice but to go the same way, the other thought he had no choice but to break out of that cycle. They were both right.

By carefully arranging the contents of any room, from kitchen to office, you can dramatically improve your health, finances, relationships – any area of your life.

That sums up the Law of Attraction for me. The challenge comes when we want to break out of a negative life pattern, and may even see some progress, but we keep slipping back and never quite seem to get there. That's when people think the Law of Attraction doesn't work. It does work, it can't not work – it's a universal law, just like gravity. However, we may have deeply buried thoughts, beliefs and denied emotions that can hold us back and stop us from getting what we want. It is important to identify what these are and re-program to be able to work with the Law of Attraction in the way that we want.

Simply thinking about what you want or even writing it down and visualizing it may not be enough. You may also have to do some inner work and, of course, take action, in order to attract to you the things, and situations that you desire.

About the Power of Intention

The Power of Intention, or focus, really goes hand-in-hand with the Law of Attraction. If you want something in your life to change, you need to put your attention (and intention) on what you want, not on what you don't want. And you have to stay focused on it.

I believe this also goes along with identifying what you're passionate about in your life. It's not enough simply to set goals for what you want. If these goals are not aligned with your passions – or if you don't even know what your passions are – then you can end up not getting what you want, or getting it, but being disappointed as it doesn't bring you the happiness you thought it would. We need an Intention – it's even better when our intention is bigger than us because then it really becomes something to work towards, something to aspire to and we can get energized about it.

To create a clear intention it is important to become clear about yourself – who you are, what your passions are, what you truly want in your life.

The clearer you are about your intentions the better. If your intention is fuzzy (for example, simply wanting more money in not a clear intention, specifically how much do you want and for what?) then your results will be fuzzy.

Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of placement and has been practiced in China for over 3,000 years. Using the principles of Feng Shui you can change your life by rearranging your home and/or workplace.

Creating good Feng Shui can be as simple as moving your furniture, and as subtle as hanging a mirror or highlighting an auspicious color. Feng Shui can bring your environment into optimal harmony, comfort and balance, with extraordinary results.
